Johan Heldenbergh / Pieter ‘Breejen’ Strobbe

Johan Heldenbergh (1967) graduated from Studio Herman Teirlinck.

As theatre director Heldenbergh appeared in a number of high-profile productions, including Ten Oorlog (Blauwe Maandag Compagnie), Mijn Blackie (HETPALEIS & Nieuwpoorttheater), Allemaal Indiaan (Victoria en Les Ballets C. de la B.) and Maria Eeuwigdurende Bijstand (DASTHEATER & Theater Zuidpool).

In 2000 he joined the regular company of the Zuidpool Theatre. He performed in, among others, Pterodactylus and Uncle Wanja, and directed 't Schemert and De Madam (of the pub across the street). In 2006 he played Caligula in the performance of the same name by Antigone Theatre. On the big screen, Heldenbergh appeared in films such as, among others, Antonia (Oscar winner '95) by Marleen Gorris, Any Way the Wind Blows by Tom Barman and Steve + Sky by Felix van Groeningen and Aanrijding in Moscou by Christophe Van Rompaey (Semaine de la Critique, 2008). Heldenbergh went around the country with Massis, the musical, a monologue he wrote himself, from the spring of 2004 to the fall of 2005. In addition to the 'regular circuit' he also performed for a 'non-conventional' public in community centres, club houses, parish halls, etc. In 2006 he threw his weight behind Compagnie Cecilia, together with Marijke Pinoy and Arne Sierens.
